A Wood Daddy piece is not pulled off a shelf. It moves through the shop in five passes over about four weeks, and each one has a job. Here is exactly where your order spends that time.

Week 0
Rough lumber
Every build starts at the lumber rack: kiln-dried walnut, maple or white oak, hand-picked for straight grain and color. Boards get checked for twist and moisture before they earn a place in the queue. Your order is planned here, cut list and all.

Week 1
Mill and glue-up
Strips are milled square, flipped end-grain up and arranged for pattern, then glued with waterproof wood glue and pulled tight in bar clamps overnight. This is where a checkerboard or chevron is born.

Week 2
Flatten and sand
Out of the clamps, the blank is flattened dead level, then sanded through five grits to 220. Edges get eased, corners rounded, the juice groove routed. No shortcuts: dust now means glass later.

Week 3
Oil and wax
Food-safe mineral oil goes on in flooding coats until the wood stops drinking, followed by a beeswax and oil finish, buffed back by hand. The grain turns deep and rich. Nothing on the board you couldn't eat off.

Week 4
Cure, check, deliver
The finish cures, feet go on if you want them, engraving happens last. A final flatness and finish check, then boards ship nationwide via UPS. Tables are delivered white-glove around DFW.
The wood
Three serious hardwoods, kiln-dried and hand-picked. Cherry is available on request for boards.
Walnut
Deep chocolate tones that darken with age. The signature Wood Daddy board.
White Oak
Blond, hard-wearing and stable. Cathedral grain that suits tables beautifully.
Maple
Bright and clean, the classic butcher-block wood. Pairs with walnut for contrast.
Living with it
Re-oil monthly. Five minutes with mineral oil keeps the board sealed for decades.
Hand wash with warm water, dry standing on edge. Never the dishwasher, never a soak.
Boards ship nationwide via UPS, packed in kraft and corner-protected. Tables stay DFW local.
